Halloween Costumes

Image
I've done this lesson for many years with the kindergarten. We start by using rectangles and squares made from foam or cardboard. They trace around the shapes and just for fun we talk like robots for the entire class period.  The next class time the students add their Halloween costumes in Craypas on top of their block shapes. For my students that don't celebrate Halloween we talk about dress up and what they might wear for fun.  At one of the buildings I teach the classroom teacher laminates the pictures and puts them into a book that the students look at for the entire year. Oh, and did you notice Luke Skywalker?

Splat the CAT

Thanks Patti at http://www.deepspacesparkle.com/ for this lesson connecting art and literacy.  I can't help but think of my good friend Carol's cat Shadow when I read Splat. I added his picture. Shadow had a traumatic kittenhood and has issues but he is so lovable. All the students love Splat stories. The students at NSE had time to add paper details.
